Frequently asked questions.
Booking
How do I book a pet transport?
Request a quote with your pickup and drop-off ZIP codes, dates and pet details. We reply during business hours with a fixed quote, and you confirm your dates to book.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you know your dates. Include your preferred pickup date in the quote request and we will confirm what is possible.
Pricing
How much does pet ground transport cost?
Cost depends on distance, number of pets and route complexity. We provide a fixed quote before booking with no hidden fees. The rough estimate tool on the home page gives a range in seconds.
Is the quote fixed?
Yes. You receive a fixed quote before you book, so the number you agree to is the number you pay.
Do additional pets cost more?
Yes. Each additional pet on the same private trip adds to the price. Your quote itemizes it.
Safety
Does Happy Arrival Pets transport pets by air or only by road?
Only by ground. Every trip is completed in a climate-controlled vehicle with a professional handler on board, from pickup to final delivery.
What does a Happy Arrival Pets vehicle include?
Climate control, crating for cats and small pets, regular rest and bathroom breaks, and a professional handler who monitors each pet throughout the trip.
Is ground transport safer for pets than flying?
Ground transport avoids cargo-hold pressure changes and airport handling, which makes it a common choice for senior pets, brachycephalic breeds, anxious animals and multi-pet households.
Preparing your pet
What should I send with my pet?
Your pet's food for the trip, a familiar blanket or toy, medication with written instructions, and current vaccination records.
Can I send more than one pet?
Yes. Every trip is private, so your pets ride together on the same schedule in the same vehicle. We never combine multiple pet owners into one trip.
During transport
How long does a cross-country ground pet transport take?
A coast-to-coast trip typically takes 3 to 4 days, with scheduled rest, feeding and exercise stops. Shorter regional moves can take 1 to 3 days.
How will I know how my pet is doing?
You get status updates and photo check-ins from your handler as the trip progresses.
What areas does Happy Arrival Pets serve?
All 48 contiguous United States. Routes are planned point-to-point, so pets travel directly rather than through a hub-and-spoke network.
Regulations and paperwork
What paperwork does my pet need?
Requirements depend on your route. At minimum, have current vaccination records ready. Some destinations require a health certificate from your veterinarian. Tell us your route and we will help you confirm what applies.
Is Happy Arrival Pets registered?
Yes. Happy Arrival Pets is a USDA APHIS registered Class T carrier under the Animal Welfare Act.
How experienced is your team?
We have more than five years of professional pet transport experience, and every transport we have completed has finished safely.
How can I tell a real pet transporter from a scam?
Ask for the USDA registration number and check it, get everything in writing, pay by credit card when you can, and be wary of prices far below other quotes or requests to pay by wire, gift card or crypto. Our scam awareness guide covers the red flags and what to do if something goes wrong.
